From Teacher to Idaho Photographer

Photographer; my dream job. Sixth grade is where it all started. My parents gave me a camera for Christmas, and from that moment on I photographed EVERYTHING. I jumped at every chance to bring my camera along with me. Every family vacation, school event, or field trip. My camera and I were inseparable.

God knew what He was doing when He placed that camera in my hands. By sixth grade I had been in a constant battle with my health. No one knew what was wrong with me. I was just sick all the time and trying to enjoy life when I could. When I got my camera it gave me something to focus on. Something to distract me from all the sickness. It was also my way of remembering. One of my many health issues was struggling with brain fog. Somedays I could remember my school work and events for the day, and other days it just wasn't there.

Now fast forward to the here and now. I have graduated from high school, completed two years of college, left college, moved to Idaho, and became a certified Montessori teacher for two years. A couple of months ago, I finally made the decision to pursue photography full-time. This is something that I have been wanting to do for years. God has graciously given me the chance to actually work as a full-time photographer. Without Him, I could do none of this. He gave me a part-time job as a personal assistant as well that allows me to pursue photography more. So now I am running around trying to schedule as many photo sessions as I can, meet with small business owners, teach myself how to run a small business, and doing personal assistant work on the side. Crazy? Right? But it's totally worth it.

I am still trying to figure out this new job life. It's hard. Being your own boss. Do I have the ability to take the day off and not work? Yes. I'm I tempted to do that? Yes, who wouldn't be? But then I remember that this is my dream job and God has given me the chance to try and make it. I don't want to waste that chance. It's hard but that is what makes me love it.
